It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. This is a look at two labs that my company has had close business and process development relationships. It is a comparison of the relationships relative to the how we have been working with each company.Company A: We have been working together for over 20 years with the first ten years based on buying our standard products. In the second ten years we have been working together on new machines and processes. The production manager is also the process engineer. We have collaborated on polishers, blockers, and blocking tooling for both corneal and scleral lens production. I think that his position and authority has been beneficial to his company by providing a coherent path to the project goals. Our relationship is based on requests for a solution. We look at options and analyze them from a technical point to view.
